Stress – based on Lily Tomlin quote

“Reality is the leading cause of stress among those in touch with it. ” – Lily Tomlin
Tom Asacker’s blog makes a good point about stress. It’s not solved by avoiding it. Stress isn’t best addressed by indulgence, diversions, entertainment, escaping, or making more money. Instead change your attitude and approach to life. Obviously if we improved in these things most of us wouldn’t need the other things.

Trademarks & Copyright Protection on the web

Trademark Protection, Copyright and Search Engines

By Sara Holoubek,
March 30, 2006

This article talks about protecting your trademark online. The web changes so quickly that the law can't keep up. The bottom line is cases will come up and things will be decided but in the end most web site owners will comply if caught using your trademarks or copyrighted material.

Outsourcing SEO and/or PPC Advertising

Have you outsourced your PPC or SEO campaign management to an offshore company?

I'm curious about outsourcing the management of Pay-per-click (PPC) advertising and search enginge optimization (SEO) activities. It seems like it could be an ideal thing to hire someone in the Phillipines or India to handle it. Anyone know of case studies? resources? experiences?

Everything about Affilate Marketing

If you’re new to affiliate marketing and want an exhaustive resource on what it is and how to do it, I suggest you get the 300 page ebook called, “The Super Affiliate Handbook” by Rosalind Gardner. You could spend a lot of time reading and not get the quality information that you’ll get from this book in one place.

Find out what people are paying for keywords

I forgot about this web site but just rediscovered it. Find out what your competitors are paying for their keywords. If you do pay-per-click this will give you an idea of how much you'll need to spend it you want to be one of the top links. It's integrated with overature's keyword tool so you can get an idea of traffic and idea of cost side-by-side.

Read Business 2.0 Magazine

I read Business 2.0 magazine cover to cover as soon as I get it.

Tidbits/ideas/todos from most recent article:

  • entrepreneur designs ads for business rooftops so you can see their logo when using google earth or satellite images
  • Somethinglocal.com should take note of how an Oregon bank installed music download kiosks in every branch. Free tunes from local artists and you can burn a CD for $8. If you open an account at the bank you burn the CD for free.
  • doodle whiteboards at google for employee expression/fun/culturalexpression
  • check out digg.com
  • how Ryanair gives away free airline tickets and charges for everything but
  • simple idea of online cards created by actual usersthat paid nicely for Firefox. Maybe we can let our IPCs design cards and use the best ones. p.92
  • SAIC rewards a big contract by giving a tiered bonus to everyone on up, sort of like a network marketing company rewards the whole group for sales, not just one person. Most of the Best Kept Secrets section are fascinating.
  • Geekcorps is like peacecorps but they teach tech skills!
  • Check out I-O Display Systems I-theater. Your ipod screen could look giant! Plus, they have an affiliate program (10% commissions!)
  • Find a free wireless network wherever you are (print it before your trip!). Not one listing for Orem, but in there is one at the Juice 'n Java – 280 W 100 N in Provo.

Misses:

  • The story on Hello Kitty receptionist kisoks – DUMB
  • Souped up (overkill) SUVs for execs that get even worse gas mileage than regular SUVs…less than 8mpg!! Shouldn't people with money find a way to get the same benefits with less damage to the environment?! This bugs my hippie heart!

Godady domain name auctions

Godaddy.com has a domain name auction that works like Ebay. It’s a great place to go for ideas. I wish I had kept a few of my domains, I just didn’t know how to sell them. Now I do. Pretty soon Europe will open all their non-taken registered business domains to the public. I smell opportunity.
