What do Affiliate Managers Get Paid?

Shawn Collins has published some numbers about what regular salaried and outsourced affiliate managers make. The majority of salaried affiliate managers earn between $40k to $50k a year. The majority of outsourced affiliate managers make in the $4-6k a month range.

It doesn’t say how many people responded (he commented that it almost 200 affiliate managers). You can purchase the full report and I’m sure it would have more detail.

It seems like I get a lot of people ask me what they should pay an affiliate manager. So I’ll now refer them to this. As far as I know Shawn is the only person providing information like this in the affiliate marketing industry.

Here is a list of outsourced affiliate manager programs.

Syndicating Your Blog

I’ve been reading Brazen Careerist for a while but today I became a convert. I’m not sure what did it but I reached the tipping point and now I absolutely love it. This post is about syndicating your blog.

Your posts could turn into a column that runs in a newspapers. Obviously the idea of that is appealing to me. Getting in a magazine, newspaper, or writing a book reaches a whole new group of people. It’s a good way to extend your brand and credibility.

I made a new friend and gained a lot of credibility for one article I wrote about affiliate marketing. It still comes up and it’s been over a year since I wrote it. I have written many articles for newspapers on topics I’ve cared about but never knew the impact.

Perhaps my favorite article I’ve ever written was during college. It was about how botany professors were livid so many trees were being cut down on campus. It made the front page. I appreciated the trees (the ginko and tulip trees in particular) and it seemed the grounds crew was cutting them down without much of a thought. The trees were part of an outdoor classroom. You don’t usually see this much emotion from a scientist – but he was MAD. Made for a great story, and hopefully less tress being cut down…

Ok, I think I just got caught up in the story all over again! I think you get the point.

Top Internet Marketing Trends for 2007

New blog alert! Check out “Influential Interactive Marketing” blog, written by Rhoit Bhargava. Here is a great post on the top internet marketing trends for 2007. Here is another on blog marketing. This blog is full of useful information, check it out. He works for Oglivy PR (written worshipfully: once I read the book Ogilvy on Advertising, then heard someone speak about design from Oglivy I became an instant convert).

Short Rant about Link Stinginess

Am I the only one who is bugged when media talks about something and doesn’t link to it?? Sometimes I think writers believe they are being impartial by mentioning but not linking to a business.

It’s so easy to link, it’s bad customer service not to. Just by talking about a business you are already giving it enough attention to warrant a link!

stinginess: the abstention from giving, not being generous.

Chat Room Software

My friend and I are working on a web site and want to have several chat rooms on it. Does anyone know the easiest way to get this done? I would like our look/feel. Is there open source software? What paid software is good? Can someone else host it but integrate it onto our site? Any information is appreciated. This project is just starting out, so we are still learning what questions to ask and potential cost.

Newspapergrl is Going – Are You?

My friends at Buzz Booster Shahar and Nashlah Boyayan (the women who pay their mortgage with Adsense income) are teaching a class on Wednesday about selling information. You know it’s a topic I’m very interested in. In fact, I’m writing an ebook with my friend Paul about online PR. It should be done by next month. This class is perfect timing, as this is my first ebook (any suggestions, please let me know).

Building Online Communities

Short post: a great article about the value of online communities with links to other good articles. What online communities are the most compelling, active, or well-done? What software is there that facilitates online community building? I think online communities that spill over into offline communities (like Harley Davidson) are the best. It’s bringing a bunch of people with similar interests together for a good cause, as well as to participate in conversations and relationships that most inspire me.

Get Your Name on a Banana

I had a good laugh over this one! I always appreciate the originals. I had the honor today of having my name written on a banana. No, I didn’t pay for it, but you can if you want to.

This reminds me of high school when my friends always came up with funny gifts for our birthdays or special events. Once we wrapped a banana, but come to think of it, we all should’ve signed it, ha ha ha

Blogging with Janet Classes Announced

My friend wanted my help with her blog. I really love to blog (if you can’t tell). I was completely inspired by what she was doing. Anyway, she told some people and they wanted to learn how to blog too. So I put together two classes. Both are somewhat limited in size. This is an introduction to blogging class geared towards anyone who wants to blog for their business or just for their life or hobby.

I realize many of my readers are avid bloggers and could teach the class so spread the word to the unconverted.

What the blogging class covers:

I’ll go over what a blog is, what you might use a blog for (types of blogs), and the benefits of starting a blog (for your life and/or business). Blogs are great internet marketing tools – for example, Google now indexes my blog post within an hour of my writing it. Compare that to how long it takes to get your web site listed.

Coming Soon
If there is demand, I’ll teach more advanced courses. I’ll go over how to set up a blog, blog marketing, writing styles, keyword optimization, adding social media, blog search engines, blog analytics, using plugins, making money from your blog, blog templates and designs, etc. I will have a technology partner to help with the technical issues. I also want some design partnerships. If you are a blog designer in Utah, contact me janet @ affiliateflash.com.

I’ll just say this: no need to bother paying someone to get your business online, use blog software and start blogging right away. Regular web sites: flat and dead. Blogs: dynamic and alive.

There is no charge for the class. We can accommodate 15-30 at the American Fork location and 10-15 at the house. Spread the word!
