Top 5 Recommended Copywriting Books

There’s an excellent list of copywriting books from the Uncommon Business Ideas that Work blog. This blog is one of my favorites to read, along with PostSecret. I read Business 2.0 magazine and get new ideas and energy by reading it. Anyway, here are the books recommended. And #1 costs almost $200 used. I haven’t read any of them.

Go to the site and read what he says about each book. Makes me want to put in my order now. But then I’d have to actually read books. I just got a whole bunch in the mail and I want to read all my Seth Godin books. But I read blogs and magazines more often. I have a book on Einstein that I have gotten through about 10 pages of so far. That’s in about two months.

Here’s the list of copywriting books:

1. Breakthrough Advertising
2. How to Write a Good Advertisement
3. Advertising Secrets of the Written Word
4. The Ultimate Sales Letter
5. Million Dollar Mailings

If you’ve read any of these, please comment. I get caught up in ebooks (or I used to) but there are classics that should be in your library if you do copywriting. I’m taking their word on these.

A Very Short Meme

Kelly blogged about the Tim Ferriss‘ nationally best-selling book, The 4 Hour Work Week. I got tagged to do a blog meme (thanks Carl for thinking of me) but I feel memed out.

This is a really short meme. Anyone is welcome to post a comment with their answers or on their blog:

1 thing to do before you die (a memory of a lifetime): this used to be seeing the Dali Lama and hearing him speak, but I did that. Now it’s to get a book published – after listening to J.K. Rowling describe her experience.
1 thing you’ve always wanted to learn: how to paint – I want to be an artist when I’m old
