Scoble Goes Dark
| Robert Scoble, perhaps the most popular tech blogger there is and author of Naked Conversations has announced he’s going to stop blogging. It’s an interesting post - very authentic and reflective. Also, revealing about the underbelly of fame - copycats and lies. I have a lot of respect for him. He’s going to focus more on his family and videos. It doesn’t say he’s never going to blog again. |
Read about it in his own words: Scolbe Goes Dark…My friend Phil wrote a great post about Scoble.

You have to feel for the guy. But some things we bring on ourselves in life. He’ll be back and we’ll be enjoying his research as always.

MKP, thanks for the comment but it left me curious. What do you mean he brought it on himself as you infer? More details please!
He says he’s depressed and I don’t want to start a bash Scoble thread but I’m hoping for more insight into your comment. As you can see I’m not really keeping up. Too busy blogging and coaching lately.

Hi Janet. Nothing negative meant about Robert. I was referring to the public exposure and scrutiny we put ourselves through by opening up to the blogosphere. Our lives (as much as we blog about) become public knowledge hence the not-so-fun-loving-folks will take advantage of our vulnerabilities and emotions.

mkp, thanks for clarifying. I’ve been out of blogging politics lately. You make a good point. There are risks in being open. I’m glad people are anyway.
Scoble has a lot of courage to risk his job and try the things he did. It changed how people saw Microsoft and led the way for other employees to blog. I will always respect him for having the guts. People at the front of the line often take the most hits.
