Phil from ZDocs contacted me today. I started reading his blog and found a good post about the powerful combination of writing a book and blogging (blooks). This is a subject I’ve written about a bit in the past. He recommends a few things I need to check out.

  • Create a blog for your ebook or book with the same title Submit to blog directories.
Here is a list or as he suggests you can pay the Blog Squad women to submit your blog to blog directories for you.
  • He recommends using Kick Start Cart to do the email marketing, fulfillment.
I’ve never heard of it until now but it sounds like something I should look in to. It’s an integrated shopping cart system to process credit cards, send autoresponder emails (the automatic email with the ebook, directions, receipts), add coupons, and best of all track affiliate sales. They have a free trial. I noticed the Blog Squad also recommend it.
  • Do a virtual blog book tour.
How do you do a virtual blog book tour? I’ll have to ask him more about that. I’d like to print out my ebook and have it spiral bound (which I do with most of the ebooks I read) and do a real book tour. I bet the local Borders would go for an online PR class and book signing. If I get better at Second Life (I’m still working on my first life) maybe I could do a presentation there.

I’m really concerned with the ebook being practical and hands-on with quality information and resources. I’m researching the value of free press release submission services, so if you have any leads on that, please let me know. I suspect that it is you get what you pay for, but I want to keep an open mind and see if and when it is useful.

  5. Denise aka The Blog Squad Says:

Janet, thanks for the link and I have to agree with the others on 2 things: 1) KickStartCart (Antion’s private label) is THE BEST database marketing and shopping cart system on the planet. I’ve been using it for my business and for clients for many years.

    2) using a blog to write and promote your book is a terrific way to organize your content, build a fan base of readers and build your marketing platform. My partner Patsi Krakoff, and I, speak about this at blogging, publishing and writing conferences. We’re major evangelists for this form of publishing. I recommend Lulu.com for print on demand publishing.
