Happy Thanksgiving – Happy Job News
Today is Thanksgiving and I’m thankful for a short job search. I’m so risk-adverse and this year has tested that. I’ve got a very strong sense of financial responsiblity. I wanted to start my own gig but it’s not the time in my life. I’m not there yet.
Truthfully the shock of losing a job that was going so well was tough to recover from. I didn’t even want to think about looking for something else. I worked with such fine people and one of the best bosses of my career.
Thanks to all of you for being a supportive community. I found it to be much stronger than I knew. Really, thank you!
Thankfully I don’t drive by that McDonald’s every day with the marquee announcing: “Now Hiring All Shifts”. It’s ridiculous that it made my blood pressure rise. To me, that represents the most horrible job besides working in a factory.
Thankfully, I have a strong network (thank you Chris! my tradition of sending flowers…hmmm). On Monday I’ll start as the internet marketing manager at Podango. It wasn’t advertised, Chris just went to bat for me. So I’ll learn the podcasting space. The best part is that it’s telework (I will be on Skype more).
I must warn you that my blog will now veer into podcasting as I blog about this new adventure. It’s a new company. I’m excited to start getting them some link love, starting with this post. I made them promise that I could blog on the site. I have twice composed blog posts for them in my head, before I even had the job. Now that’s blogging addiction. I like to tell the story of the good things companies accomplish and do.
If you give me code access and blog access you have my loyalty. Oh, and if you send me to an internet marketing conference, that just zips it up. Of course what is loyalty these days in this field?? The average BtoB marketer’s shelf life keeps on shrinking. I’m not sure about BtoC.
Time to get the home office into shape! First step: bigger desk with file cabinet. Second step: join corporate alliance so I have a place to network.

Well done Janet, that was pleasantly quick – I hope you will be happy with the company you have chosen.
To quote you precisely two weeks previously…
“Right now one thing I’d like to do: telecommute and write for a magazine, preferably about internet marketing (like ReveNews).”
Congratulations! Two out of three ain’t at all bad, and I’m sure you’ll convince them, if you think there’s any value to repurposing some of their content into a magazine format.
Never forget your own strength (just build upon it
)
Cheers

Yeah my blog cheerleader is back! You and Paul are my 2-person official fan club. I have got to get your address so I can send your official t-shirts. The Official, Original Affiliate Flashers (know any artists? under the trench coat is my URL).
I hadn’t heard from you in a while – glad you’re still around. To my readers, these are volunteer (not paid) positions — or maybe callings!
When I was in high school we had the apathy club. It was tough to hold meetings. My apathy levels have been very low since that ended. I’m a club joiner (now overcommitted and quite unapathetic and unslothful).
Everyone needs a cheerleader or two. Yes, thanks for being mine.
