I’m curious and wanted to do an informal poll. Have you ever been asked to change the link text for a link on your blog? What were your thoughts? Did you do it?

My guess is that bloggers generally won’t change the link text unless they know and/or like you. Even then they might not.

   HI Newspapergrl,

   Since the link text (anchor text) is the essential information a search engine uses to determine what your site is about – and is a huge influence on how well we rank for those words -

   changing anchor text to help another blogger out would be a kind, thoughtful, and helpful gesture.

   I’d do it in a heartbeat.
